Free Tablature & Sheet Music
Here is FREE TABLATURE and FREE SHEET MUSIC for the Banjo, Guitar, Mandolin, Bass, Dobro, Fiddle! This has been a very popular page over the years and is always being updated. It is the official 'Archives'.
To download: RIGHT CLICK the file name, then select 'Save target as'. Then send the file to a folder on your hard drive.
The songs below are posted alphabetically. If there is no play-along mp3, then it doesn't exist. What is posted below is what I have. When I first started this web site, server space was limited and there was not enough room for these audio files. Now, my server is larger and all of the newer songs will have multiple, play-along mp3s and video files. As the older files are updated, mp3s will be included. Sometimes, the files on this page will be removed for a new project.

Music Theory and Improvising with Pentatonics
Below is a video discussion of Pentatonics and how they are used to improvise a solo lead. This is good material for a first year student. Although I am using the Mandolin in the tutorial, this theory can be applied to any instrument.
These videos are large files so, a faster Internet connection will be necessary to download it. The files are compressed with winrar in the DivX codec (see below). It is free download for your enjoyment and education but not for re-sale.

Getting Started on the Dobro (Resophonic Guitar)
To promote the new release of Dobro Volume 1, a new video tutorial series of FREE Dobro lessons has been prepared.
These eBooks include the
1. Video Lesson
2. Play-along mp3 files and
3. the PDF tablatures
Combining these three teaching materials will reinforce the concepts learned from the video presentation. My recommendation would be to avoid reading the PDF files at the beginning. The tablature is included directly onto the video so you can watch and play along with the program. Use tablature only as a reference. You will get more out of the program by watching, listening and playing along with me on the video and audio recordings. The PDF and mp3 files are included in each eBook as they are presented. Although program was written with the first year Dobro student in mind, the seasoned player may also find some useful tips and techniques along the way.
The song example, 'Don't This Road Look Rough and Rocky' will be used throughout the program analyzing the backup and solo possibilities. The techniques and theory for this tune can also be applied to other songs.
The total program playing time is 90 minutes (4 Parts). The files are rather large so (170 - 180 meg), you will need a faster Internet connection for downloading and you will need 7-Zip installed to open them. Getting Started on the Guitar
The Guitar is one of the most popular instruments in the world and is found in almost every genre of music and culture. This series was designed to get the First Year student started with this instrument and take out some of the mystery of more advanced techniques like playing solos and improvising leads in the higher areas of the Guitar neck and advanced Rhythm Techniques.
This course is in 6 parts. Here is the Program Outline.

The files are rather large so you will need a faster Internet connection for downloading and you will need 7-Zip (free download) installed to open them. Each Part spilt into smaller sections to make downloading easier. Download ALL the sections of a Part into one folder before attempting to open. The sections will then all open together as one complete Part.
