This program has been designed to give the Beginning Banjoist a
solid foundation on which to build good technique and working repertoire
that will fit in with informal Bluegrass Jam Sessions. This book is in
two sections: 'Exercises in Picking' and the 'Song Section'. If you are
a complete beginner, then you will want to start at the beginning. If,
on the other hand, you already know something about the Banjo you can
move directly into the song section. The power of this program is the
audio recording, which presents the faster songs at a variety of slower
tempos to build technique.

Banjo Volume 1 Video Tutorial

This is a detailed Video Tutorial that works closely with the
book, Banjo Volume 1 (above). There are 47 chapters detailing the instrument, techniques, exercises
and songs found in the book. If you do not have access to a real banjo
teacher, this video program is the next best thing allowing you to play
and practice on your own schedule. Playing time is just under 9 hours of
instruction giving you many many hours of enjoyable lessons on the
banjo!
The tablature is included at the bottom of the screen to make it
easier to follow along with or without the book. The material is best
suited for the 1st or 2nd year banjo student as every note, chord and
finger position is explained in detail. I recommend that you use this
video program as a supplement to the Bluegrass Banjo Volume 1 book and audio tracks.
This video provides the details with interpretation. The book and
play along audio tracks will keep your timing smooth and accurate.
The video is in .avi, format, the same as the free videos found on the
What's New
and Free Tablature
pages. This is a video DOWNLOAD. The files are formatted with the DivX
codec so you can burn the files to a DVD-R for playback on most newer
DVD players. (There will be a 'DivX' logo on the front of your DVD

Bluegrass Banjo Volume 2 picks up where we
left off in Volume 1. The arrangements for this book were
selected for their ‘jamming appeal’ at bluegrass festivals. The material
was inspired by your many requests including a mix of
songs ranging from bluegrass standards, vocal tunes, gospel, banjo
instrumentals, fiddle tunes and so on. There is a little something for
everyone in this project. You will find many of the techniques that you
have been working on in Volume 1 in this follow up work.
The solos are 'razor sharp', accurate and faithful to the recordings
and designed to be playable, interesting and practical in jamming with
others. The greatest care has been exercised in making this recording
as professional as possible giving you the desire to practice along with

The Holiday Season is a wonderful time for family and
friends to be together. It is also a great opportunity to play music!
That was the thought behind this series; playing Christmas Carols as
a family or with friends.
The arrangements presented in this book are for 1, 2 or
3 Banjos. They are cleverly arranged to match the complimentary books in
this series: Mandolin
Christmas, Bass Christmas,
Fiddle Christmas,
Dobro Christmas and
Guitar Christmas. You can mix and match
any of the arrangements in many different combinations to create some
very unique and entertaining Holiday Music and Caroling.As an example, let’s say that you have a Guitar and
Mandolin picker to jam with. You can split up the parts between the
three of you. The Banjo could play part 1, the Guitar part 2 and
Mandolin part 3. For variety, you can switch these as you perform. The
second time through the song, as an example, the Banjo could switch to
part 2, the Guitar to part 3 and the Mandolin could go to part 1. On the
next repeat, switch the parts again! There are many possibilities.
Add a Bass and you will have an authentic, Christmas Carol Quartet!
The Banjo edition also includes several solos (Scruggs
Style) that could be played by the Banjo alone or used as an alternate
part 1 with the group.
Here is an audio example of how this works. The first
is a complete mix of three banjos together and the Bass, one is the lead and the other two
harmonizing:
